BERKELEY, Calif. — Walking around the beautiful campus at Berkeley one can see energized students laughing and walking to class with friends. All over the campus hundreds of students are connecting.
What draws them to one of the top-ranked public universities in the country? Amanda Young, an activist from Los Angeles, transferred to University of California-Berkeley this summer. She said, “I was looking for a change, and I was ready for something new.” She said to came to Berkeley “to find the balance between being an activist and being a student.”
Crystal Sherr comes to Berkeley to be able to relax and enjoy the campus life. Even though she is not a student, she said, ” I’ve always found a community here.” Asher Bergtraun said, “Living in Berkeley my whole life has shaped who I am.” The high-school senior was eating lunch on campus because “it’s open to everyone.”
