Carolyn Freeman Profile
Carolyn Freeman was born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland. She had a typical American childhood, playing violin since the age of five and sharing a household with four older brothers. Because her father is American and Jewish, and her mother is Cuban and Catholic, she experienced several culture clashes; both with religions and languages. Freeman is driven, cultured and has a good outlook on life. “I’m Jew-ban,” she joked.
As a child, she often looked up to her oldest brother, Nate, who in high school was in the school news paper, and later followed his journalistic career to college. To become a Nightlife Reporter in New York City, interviewing celebrities and attending red carpet events. She hopes to attend a great Communications Program, at a university and follow in her brother’s footsteps.
Now at fifteen, she often jokes about her mother’s background, and avoids speaking to her in Spanish. “It takes too much effort to think of what to say in Spanish, so I usually just reply in English. I’m better at understanding Spanish, then speaking it,” she gushed.
Last year, Freeman and her fellow peers performed with their school orchestra at Carnegie Hall. She said, “It was really cool playing at such a well renowned place!” Freeman says she really enjoys traveling and learning about the world, and often takes family vacations to Europe and South America.
